Jessica Lurie Quartet — Jazz at KD’s in PLG
When: Friday, November 11 from 7:30pm to 9:30pm.
Where: PLG Arts Jazz Night at KD’s 408 Rogers Avenue between Sterling Street and Lefferts Avenue.
What: Hear award-winning multi-instrumentalist, composer, and improviser Jessica Lurie perform with long-time collaborator Rene Hart on bass, Brian Marsalla on keyboard, and drummer Yoni Halevy.
How Much: $5 Donation

ILEGAL MEZCAL MUSIC SERIES: LA MADRUGADA at Bar Chord
When: Friday, November 11 at 10pm.
Where: Bar Chord, 1008 Cortelyou Road, between Coney Island Avenue and Stratford Road.
What: Dance your troubles away with Latin Grooves and Salsa at Bar Chord.
How Much: Free show, but don’t forget to buy drinks at the bar.

Flatbush Artist Studios Open Tour
When: Saturday and Sunday, November 12 and 13 from 11am to 5pm.
Where: Houses throughout the neighborhood, see the map here.
What: The Flatbush Artist’s Open Studio tour returns this year with new work by 26 incredible local artists, exhibiting painting, photography, multi-media work, sculpture, jewelry and more in fourteen homes around the neighborhood. While you’re out, check out the artist studio tour in Windsor Terrace and Park Slope, too!
How Much: Free

Green-Wood’s ‘The Gallant Samuel Sims’ Talk and Tour
When: Saturday, November 12 from 1pm to 3pm.
Where: Green-Wood Cemetery.
What: Green-Wood’s historian, Jeff Richman discusses the life of Brooklyn native and Civil War Captain Samuel Sims. Afterward, Richman will lead a trolley tour exploring the cemetery’s rich Civil War history, including a visit to Captain Sims’s grave. All other tours at Green-wood this weekend are sold out, so get your ticket now!
How Much: Lecture is free, tour afterwards is $20 for members of Green-Wood, $25 for non-members.

Candlelight Vigil for Hope and Human Kindness
When: Saturday, November 12 at 4:30pm.
Where: Fort Greene Park, Prison Ship Martyrs’ Monument
What: Come to a family-friendly candlelight vigil in Fort Greene Park to stand with neighbors for human kindness.
How Much: Free

Brooklyn College Gospel Choir
When: Saturday, November 12, 7pm to 9pm.
Where: Brooklyn College, 2900 Bedford Avenue, studio 312 Roosevelt Extension.
What: Come see Uplifting songs of joy and love from traditional and contemporary gospel music.
How Much: Free

Ghost at the Kings Theater
When: Saturday, November 12 at 8pm.
Where: The Kings Theater, 1027 Flatbush Avenue between Tilden Avenue and Duryea Place
What: Party with Ghost, a 6-piece rock band that was formed in Sweden in 2008.

Colorful quilts, nature walks and more events in Prospect Park
