Flashback Friday: Prospect Park Becomes A Library
We all remember those beautiful Spring days in the school room begging our teachers to have class outside. Looks like these lucky students did some effective convincing.
Taken in May 6, 1939, the photo caption reads: “View of Josephine Smith, a librarian at the Prospect Branch of Brooklyn Public Library, telling story to group of children in Prospect Park. The branch, located at 431 Sixth Avenue, was renamed the Park Slope Branch in 1975.”
The image is part of the Brooklyn Collection at the Brooklyn Public Library, and you can find more historic images like this one there or through Brooklyn Visual Heritage.
