Flash Mob Alert: CAMBA for National HIV Testing Day

It’s National HIV Testing Day, and CAMBA‘s observing by jumping on the flash mob bandwagon. From noon to 3pm at the Brooklyn Public Library, they’ll be raising awareness and encouraging Slopers to get tested, all P.S. 10-style.

“HIV testing is the theme, with a step team, chant and… free testing,” CAMBA tweeted yesterday

And then today:

” If you’re near Grand Army Plaza today, stop by @BrooklynPublic a FLASH MOB about HIV testing. Inside at noon, then 1-3 pm outside.”

Amended a few minutes later to:

“Forget we said FLASH MOB (shhh!). What we meant was ‘spontaneous collective breakout into organized dance and chant.’

So maybe it’s not exactly a flash mob — technically, if you’re into technicalities, a flash mob is “seemingly pointless,” which HIV awareness definitely is not — but who’s counting? If you’re in the neighborhood this afternoon, stop by, take in the scene, and show your support. And by all means, know your status!
