1.) Flatbush Caton Market

Stop by and visit Flatbush’s open air market with a special focus on Caribbean culture and products. Everything from a dry goods & spice merchant, to jewelry and clothing, to a Caribbean bakery, to shops featuring Caribbean-themed products and flags.

***While you’re at the market, check out CaribBEING House, a new multipurpose art and cultural space located in the plaza. It’s open from 12 to 5 on Saturday.

2.) Spiritual Saturday at Family of Light Holistic Center

4.) Torah Animal World

Cost: Under 3 is free. Each exhibit is $10 per person. Any additional exhibit p/day is $8 p/person

Museum filled with animals mentioned in the Old Testament. With eight different exhibits (each exhibit requires roughly one hour), the place is “crammed with everything from an African elephant and an Arabian oryx to a dismembered giraffe,” according to a profile in PRI. The museum also exhibits other items explicitly mentioned in the Torah.

5.) Introduction to Comics! Workshop
Date: Saturday, February 20th, 2pm – 4pm
Location: Windsor Terrace Branch, Brooklyn Public Library, 160 E. 5th St. at Ft. Hamilton Parkway
Cost: Free. For ages 15 years and older.

Jennifer Camper leads this workshop about “how to write and draw comics”. No experience is necessary. Class will provide an introduction to cartooning techniques through fun games and exercises. Using writing, drawing, and layout design, we’ll explore how words and pictures work together to create narrative in comics. We’ll also discuss how these skills are used in many forms of cartooning — Graphic Novels, Superhero, Graphic Journalism, Manga, Graphic Memoir, Humor, and more. Beginners and non-cartoonists welcome!

6.) Cortelyou Jazz Jam

Date: Sunday, February 21st at 9pm
Location: Bar Chord, 1008 Cortelyou Road
Cost: Free

A weekly event at Bar Chord — this is a great way to cap off the weekend and take the edge off the end-of-winter blues.
