First Image Of New Frost Building Appears On 5th Avenue
Almost one year after the purchase of 5th Avenue’s Frost building (located on the corner of 19th Street) was announced, we have our first glimpse of the projected development.
The red brick building in the rendering has cathedral windows, white trim, and rises two stories higher on one end than the existing property. The bottom floor, as previously reported, is slated for commercial usage.
Scaffolding is up along 5th Avenue, and demolition has already begun inside the building, which is projected to be complete in spring of 2015.
There really is something special about the section of 5th Avenue between the expressway and Green-Wood. It’s almost as if time has stood still, despite the gentrification exploding in other areas of the Slope. With new residential buildings popping up along the Avenue, though, these days of nostalgia may be numbered. What are your thoughts on the developments that are quickly taking over the southernmost end of our neighborhood?
