Fire Forces Colonia Verde To Close Temporarily
A fire at Colonia Verde has temporarily sidelined the popular Latin American-inspired restaurant, which will have to close for repairs for “the next couple of weeks,” announced owners Felipe, Tamy, Mac and Carolina in a message posted today on their website and Facebook page.
Colonia Verde is hurt.
After a fire incident, we have been forced to close the restaurant for the next couple of weeks to take care of the damage and rebuild. We are shocked, saddened, nervous but we are also hopeful. We will get back up because we always do, because we know we can count on the support of a neighborhood that we love and has already opened up to us so beautifully. We will be back, and will come back even stronger and better.
For the time being, starting next Monday February 16th we will be opening up business on Mondays at Comodo in order to give our staff work and keep the energy going. Come join us over there, let’s celebrate the gift of life, be grateful that no one was hurt and that we will rebuild.
Hope to see you all soon! Hugs are greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
Felipe, Tamy, Mac, Carolina
No one was injured in the Saturday, February 7 incident, but business will be hurt. It seems that customers were evacuated so quickly that they couldn’t pay for their meals. So let’s band together and show our support for the neighborhood favorite.
As noted in their message, they will be open an extra day — Mondays — at their West Village location, Cómodo, at 58 Macdougal Street. So if you’re in the area after work or want to make a trip there, feel free!
