Fire Breaks Out At Baku Boulevard Restaurant

Emergency responders swarmed the intersection of Avenue U and Homecrest Avenue Thursday night after a fire broke out in a restaurant on the building’s ground floor..

Firefighters were called to the Baku Boulevard restaurant, located at 1223 Avenue U, at 4:39pm, according to the FDNY. Within a half hour, first responders requested additional units to come to the scene, authorities say.

The fire department could not provide further details about what caused the fire, but said it was under investigation. The flames were put out at 5:22pm, according to the FDNY. No injuries were reported.

When we arrived at the restaurant later in the evening, a man who identified himself as the owner said the fire was electrical. He declined to provide further details or give his name.
