Fina, A New Pizzeria & Bar, To Open On Fort Hamilton Parkway
Here’s Anthony Carrubba on the chilliest day of the year, no gloves, light jeans, and a hoodie, watching a workman slowly move a brand-new wood-burning pizza oven set up on tracks back to the rear of his store. It’s the star of his new pizzeria and bar called Fina, which he expects to open at 3007 Fort Hamilton Parkway, between E 3rd and E 2nd Streets, in a couple weeks.
Built in Naples, Italy by a family who’s been in the oven fabricating business for three generations (which seems to be a popular trend in our area recently), the oven just cleared U.S. Customs after a 10-day delay. The deliverymen insisted they install it last night, snow and storm warnings be damned.
A sign at the space, which had been a pizza place previously, had been promising a new pizza joint was coming for several months, but this is the first indication we’ve had at what it will be exactly. Joining a stretch of Fort Hamilton that includes Brancaccio’s, Steeplechase, Hummus Garden, and Hamilton’s, can the otherwise sleepy bit of the border between Kensington and Windsor Terrace now definitively be called a dining destination?
Some of that will depend on customer demand — as will how late the new pizzeria stays open, Anthony said. We’re looking forward to trying a pie and grabbing a glass of beer or wine (that’s the liquor license they’ve applied for) soon!
