Have Family In From Out Of Town? Here’s Where You Should Take Them

In the holiday season, family starts to visit from all over the country, and in this neighborhood, from all over the world. We thought it’d be useful to make a list of places you should bring them to eat to give them the real taste of Sheepshead Bay.

Roll N’ Roaster
Can you really get a sense of this neighborhood if you haven’t indulged on a roast beef sandwich and cheese on anything you want from this Sheepshead staple? For those visiting the U.S. for the first time, this place is quintessentially American, and a must if you’re in the Bay for a short time.

Brennan & Carr
When you’ve woken up from the beef-induced slumber Roll N’ Roaster put you in, and you’re craving more roast beef, we suggest you hit up Brennan & Carr. These guys have been serving up delicious roast beef for nearly 80 years, so you can’t go wrong when bringing out-of-towners here — unless they’re vegans from the west coast, in which case don’t bring them here.

Randazzo’s Clam Bar
When your family comes, don’t forget to tell them about the history of Sheepshead Bay and how it used to be a small fishing village filled with small bungalows where fishermen would sleep between rounds on the Bay or at sea. If you want to paint a clearer picture, take them to Randazzo’s for their legendary seafood and classic Sheepshead attitude.

Jimmy’s Famous Heros
If you’re not looking to make a big thing out of your meal and you just want to take something on the go, then you can’t do better that Jimmy’s. The owner, Vic, will chat you up with Brooklyn cordiality that can’t be replicated while he masterfully crafts a sandwich that will make your visitors reconsider leaving this great neighborhood.

Rocca Cafe & Lounge
We’ve covered the classics, but hat if you want to show your guests the newer cultures and demographics of Sheepshead? Well, then we suggest the Turkish powerhouse, Rocca Cafe & Lounge. You can BYOB while feasting on kebabs and the fun takes on Mediterranean seafood at this beautiful restaurant overlooking the Bay.

Of course, we left some seriously important establishments out, but visitors only have a limited amount of time here so we had to get the greatest hits out of the way? Think we screwed up or that we should have put something else on this list? Let us know in the comments!
