Family-Friendly Pizza Perfection At 3rd Avenue’s New Table 87
Are you in a pizza state of mind? If not, you soon will be after trying the offerings from Table 87, the neighborhood’s newest pizzeria, located on the corner of 3rd Avenue and 10th Street. This is their second location — the first has been cooking up coal oven pies on Atlantic Ave in Brooklyn Heights since 2012.
For those in a hurry, the front of the restaurant has a takeaway counter, complete with $4 coal oven slices, and a number of calzones, sandwiches, and salads, ranging in price from $9 to $14.
The front also features a bar area, serving a nice selection of beers and wines.
We were looking for something a bit more relaxed, though, and took advantage of the lovely back room, which offers full table service.
Our waiter, Jason, was extraordinarily friendly and attentive as he took our order, and even chatted with our son about everything from their impressive pizza oven, to the numbers assigned to each table. Owner Tommy Cucco told us that the restaurant prides itself on being a family establishment, and it showed.
While the atmosphere was good, the pizza was even better. Our 20-inch sausage and pepper pie ($28) was delicious. The crust was perfectly charred, the sauce was sweet yet tangy, and we absolutely loved the house-made sausage.
Whether you’re looking for takeout or a pleasant sit-down dining experience, Table 87 is a welcome addition to Gowanus. Definitely make you way to 3rd Avenue and say hello.
