Video Lab: Craft a Visual Identity with Scott Lazer
Participants will explore how to create a signature visual identity through DIY filmmaking and editing with director Scott Lazer. He’ll share his process for working on his latest film Commute, a two-minute visual essay set in the busiest train station in the Western Hemisphere: New York City’s Penn Station. Then you’ll get hands-on with iPad and Apple Pencil to edit a film sequence in iMovie based on Lazer’s creative techniques. A screening of Commute will follow the session.
Scott Lazer is a Brooklyn-based filmmaker and creative director whose work transcends genres, formats and media. His work has been nominated for MTV Video Music Awards, selected by Vimeo Staff Picks and screened at film festivals around the world. His collaborations with artists such as J. Cole, Bas, Ari Lennox, J.I.D and Daniel Caesar has allowed him to tell stories through a unique cultural lens that reflects upon our multifaceted society.
