Featured Description (from the owner)
Come by our contactless drop-off event to contribute your artwork to Papergirl-Brooklyn. Must wear masks.
Art must be rollable, quality, non-commercial. There are no limitations to size, amount of artworks, or material of artwork as long as it meets our guidelines.
With traditional art places closed for the health and safety of our community, we are creating an interactive art project for various communities around Brooklyn to participate in. This exhibit showcases the work of international and local artists side-by-side, and the audio program component centers resident voices from each neighborhood. The final stage of this project is a free distribution of rolled up original artworks by a group on bicycles. This random distribution of artworks gives Brooklyn residents an unexpected surprise on an average day and decommodifies the art experience.
Papergirl-Brooklyn (PGBK) is a Brooklyn Arts Fund recipient from the Brooklyn Arts Council. We decentralized this project to take place in various neighborhoods to encourage visitors to travel to different locations in order to experience the full exhibition. At each location we use our audio program to center the voices of resident artists, businesses, and organizations.
