Featured Description (from the owner)
The Manhattan Bridge in Dumbo, Brooklyn is the unique setting for LIGHT YEAR, some of the largest projected outdoor video art installations in New York City, taking place on the first Thursday of every month from dusk to 10pm. Projections can be viewed from the Pearl Street Triangle with installations projected at dimensions of 65 by 40 feet.
“Evoke” is a silent video installation, meant to fit with ambient noises found in urban environments in the wintertime, including the sounds of cars and trains. The work highlights the fact that many of the natural sounds of a city, including the incessant rumbling of jackhammers, sirens and alarms, are taken for granted on a daily basis, and these noises shifted during the spring 2020 lockdown.
“Evoke” features work by Sara Sun, Tracey Snelling, Alisi Telengut, Katinka Hajas, and Travis Manning, with concept by Leo Kuelbs.
Each LIGHT YEAR video art installation is also available to stream online at https://www.facebook.com/lightyeararts from 2pm to 10pm on its scheduled projection day, and at dusk, the works can also be viewed online in real time from the projection site also at https://www.facebook.com/lightyeararts.
