LIGHT YEAR 70 “Spatial Empathy”
Pearl Street Triangle
Water Street between Pearl Street and Anchorage Place
Brooklyn, NY 11201
The Manhattan Bridge in Dumbo, Brooklyn is the unique setting for LIGHT YEAR, some of the largest projected outdoor video art installations in New York City, taking place on the first Thursday of every month from dusk to 10pm. Projections can be viewed from the Pearl Street Triangle with installations projected at dimensions of 65 by 40 feet.
“Spatial Empathy” is a silent photography slideshow featuring interiors of living spaces without people. The installation evokes the feeling of “spatial empathy”, where viewers imagine themselves in the spaces of another person, inhabiting a different life.
“Spatial Empathy” features work by Ellena Scheufler, Tracey Snelling, Andreas Gefeller, Travis Manning, Eva Horstick, and is presented by Dirk Lehr Collection with Leo Kuelbs.
Each LIGHT YEAR video art installation is also available to stream online at https://www.facebook.com/lightyeararts from 2pm to 10pm on its scheduled projection day, and at dusk, the works can also be viewed online in real time from the projection site also at https://www.facebook.com/lightyeararts.
