European Hub To Bring 500 Jobs At Brooklyn Navy Yard
Europe’s largest business incubator is headed to the Brooklyn Navy Yard to open its first U.S. flagship and is expected to create 500 jobs for New Yorkers, the city announced Wednesday.
The Netherlands-based B. Amsterdam would grant New York entrepreneurs looking to expand in Europe with access to European facilities, the city said. Renovations for B.Amsterdam’s new space is expected to begin early next year.
“B.Amsterdam’s new Navy Yard hub will become a launching pad for new businesses across the five boroughs. The start-ups and spinoffs that start here will translate into good, living-wage jobs for New Yorkers. We are thrilled our partnership with the city of Amsterdam is driving innovation and growth on both sides of the Atlantic,” said NYC Deputy Mayor for Housing and Economic Development Alicia Glen.
B. Amsterdam currently operates 300,000 square feet that host more than 300 businesses across Europe. The startup company provides legal, tax, human resources and real estate services to clients.
“B.Amsterdam’s flagship U.S. site at the Brooklyn Navy Yard will connect the Brooklyn and greater New York business communities with dynamic product design and tech companies across Europe, and foster innovation and collaboration at the Navy Yard,” said David Ehrenberg, President and CEO of the Brooklyn Navy Yard.
The Brooklyn Navy Yard has made its mark as a startup destination following its humble beginnings operating as a former U.S. military facility established in 1801. Today, the Yard is a thriving industrial park with more than 300 businesses that employ over 7,000 people.
