Borough President Eric Adams Hosts DC Trip To Anti-Gun Violence Rally

BOROUGH HALL – The National Rally to End Gun Violence is tomorrow in Washington D.C and Borough President Eric Adams is hosting a bus to take people there.

The bus will depart at Brooklyn Borough Hall (209 Joralemon Street) at 4:15 a.m. on Wednesday, September 25 and will reach back in Brooklyn around 9:30 p.m. It’s a full day trip and breakfast, lunch, and a t-shirt will be provided. The rally itself will begin at 1 p.m. at the West Lawn at the U.S. Capitol. It will begin right after the 10 a.m. House Judiciary Committee hearing on the assault weapons ban.

Brooklyn is not immune to shootings and guns. In July, 12 people were shot at Old Timers Festival in Brownsville, leaving one dead and 11 injured. A week later, four people were shot at a vigil in Crown Heights. Just last night, two women were wounded after a gunman opened fire in Flatbush.

Adams told Bklyner gun violence affects young people more than any other group, which is why it’s important that their voices be heard.

“It’s not just that young people are statistically the most frequent victims of gun violence, but also the pervasive fear that schools, recreational facilities, places of worship, or other locations where young people often congregate could be the next site of a mass shooting,” he said. “It is so important that they have a voice in affecting change, which is why I am proud to be hosting this bus trip next Wednesday to Washington, D.C.”

“It’s time that the federal government stepped up and stopped the gun violence plaguing our communities. I am so inspired by these young people for taking a stand.”
