Eat, Drink & Jam At The 38th Annual Flatbush Frolic This Weekend
Are you ready to frolic? The Flatbush Development Corporation will be holding its 38th Annual Flatbush Frolic street festival this Sunday, September 15, from 12-6pm. Stretching down Cortelyou from Ocean Avenue to Coney Island Avenue, this year’s Frolic will include:
- Rides for kids, merchandise from a diverse array of vendors, and food, food, food.
- A special entertainment area for kids at the Tot Lot (corner of Cortelyou and Argyle Roads), featuring magic by neighbor Nathan Thompson, singing with Musical Explorers, crafts, experiments with Kiddie Science, and free karate, yoga, and gymnastics mini-classes with Midwood Martial Arts. Adults can also learn about HypnoBirthing from Gentle Birthing New York’s Sara Kramer, plus first aid and CPR for babies by Baby Be Safe.
- A collaborative Cortelyou Wine and Beer Garden between Stratford and Westminster from Sycamore, The Castello Plan, and 773 Lounge, a pizza eating contest at San Remo, an exhibition from Brooklyn ARTery, Glasses for Haiti collection from Grace Eyecare, plus offerings from The Farm on Adderley, Bar Chord, the Flatbush Food Co-op, Purple Yam, Connecticut Muffin, and Coffee Mob.
- The FDNY’s Mobile Fire Safety Experience and medical literature from Greenfield Pharmacy.
- Demonstrations from Namaste Yoga, Latin Fever Dance Studio, and Cynthia King Dance Studio.
- An opportunity to take on the PS 139 Chess Ninjas, if you dare.
- Musical performances from Paul Decoster (noon), doo wop by The Encounters(12:30), classical from the Omni Ensemble (1), rock by Stanley John Mitchell(1:40), punk from High Teen Boogie (2:20), jazz pianist Jason Yeager (2:55), “Jumpin’ Jazz” by Jeanine Truly (3:25), rap from Grey Sky Appeal (3:55), a DJ set by Dirty Mike & The Boize (4:30), electro-rock from Khel (5), and the Catahoula Cajun Band (5:25).
