Eat $1 Emily Pizza Slices Next Week To Help Curb Hunger In NYC
Hungry? So are approximately 2.6 million other people across NYC. To help change that, over 40 beloved NYC pie joints–including Clinton Hill’s own Emily and pop-up Margot–are teaming up with the Food Bank for New York City on Wednesday, October 8 for the 6th annual Slice Out Hunger.
The 6pm event, to be held at Saint Anthony’s Church (154 Sullivan Street on the corner of W Houston Street in Manhattan), helps combat food poverty by offering $1 tickets to be exchanged for pizza slices, drinks, snacks, and raffle entries. A percentage of donations is matched by Slice Out Hunger’s sponsors.
Last year’s Slice Out Hunger raised $20,000, providing 100,000 meals for New York’s hungry–plus a ton of delicious, cheap pizza for attendees. This year, pizza partiers can enjoy slices from Emily and others, and enter a raffle for coveted Margot pop-up tickets (or non-Clinton Hill pizza-related stuff, if you’re into that sort of thing). The 1,000 pizzas available during Slice Out Hunger will include gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan options.
For the most part, tickets are first-come, first-serve–but a $100 donation here will get you at the front of the line with five tickets, a $75 donation will get you a pizza making class, and a donation of any amount can be made even if you’re unable to attend the event.
