Police have arrested an East New York man for the brutal stabbing of a 58-year-old Coney Island woman earlier this year.

Gregory White, 43, was charged with second degree murder, assault, and criminal possession of a weapon, police said, for slashing Victoria Hammond to death in her basement apartment on West 37th Street, cops said.

Responding to a 911 call, officers found the beloved mother-of-four unresponsive in her living room on January 24, at 9:35pm, according to police. She had stab wounds to her body and a cut on her forehead.

“Why did someone have to stab her?” her son Dartaguan Hammond, 37 lamented the New York Daily News at the time. “Why?”

According to Hammond’ other son Derrick, 38, his mother was loved by all.

“If you liked her, you liked her. If you didn’t like her, you still liked her ’cause she had no dislike for you,” he told the outlet.
