EAST FLATBUSH – Renderings have been revealed for a new six-story apartment building headed to 142 Erasmus Street in East Flatbush—and it’s quite a change for the block.

Mostly populated by single- or two-family homes with fenced-in front yards, the block of Erasmus Street between Rogers and Nostrand doesn’t seem like a likely candidate for a sleek, modern apartment with dark slate-colored brick and black metal balconies like the one seen in the rendering.

The new 10-unit building will rise 55 feet off the block, with balconies for the residents on the third floor and above, plus a large terrace for the 6th floor unit, YIMBY reports. An existing brick two-story family home will be demolished to make way for the new building.

The location is just around the corner from the Church Avenue 2/5 stop, and serviced by the B35 and B44 bus lines. Church Avenue is just one block north, running into the major artery of Flatbush Avenue a couple blocks to the west.

Just down the block, at 152 Erasmus Street, permits have been filed for another 10-unit building, this one a 4-story affair from Diego Aguilera Architects.
