Early Morning Water Main Break In Crown Heights Floods Streets And Homes

CROWN HEIGHTS – A water main break near the intersection of Pacific Street and Albany Avenue caused major damage Thursday morning, shooting water and debris into the air, flooding streets and homes, and damaging nearby cars.

The pipe burst at approximately 4:30am, according to the New York Daily News. The main water line was shut off at approximately 8am. Approximately 50 residents were evacuated following the disaster, according to the FDNY.

Police have closed off Pacific Street between Troy and Kingston Avenues and Albany Avenue between Atlantic Avenue and Dean Street while emergency crews work to fix the break, the Daily News reports.

The FDNY says no injuries were reported.
