Drink Your Way Through The Battle Of Brooklyn

In addition to the family-friendly events taking place at Green-Wood Cemetery this weekend to honor the Battle of Brooklyn, there’s another event planned for the area that will give you a taste of history — but also a taste of beer.

Historian Connor Gaudet will be leading the 1st Annual Battle of Brooklyn Pub Crawl on Saturday, August 23, starting at 2pm at Mary’s Bar (708 5th Avenue), along the line where the initial battle began, and winding its way to some other local watering holes: Quarter Bar, Brooklyn Pub, Greenwood Park, Black Horse Pub, Der Kommisar, Skylark, The Gate, and finally Lavender Lake.

The tour is free, but you’ll want to bring some cash to buy drinks of course. The route is about two miles, so wear comfortable shoes, and as for what else you wear, he notes that “Colonial garb is encouraged but not required.” You’ll be able to spot Connor — he’ll be the one in the tricorn hat.
