Where To Donate Toys & Food For Holiday Drives

There are a number of people and groups in our area who are spearheading holiday drives to help our neighbors in need. Community Board 14 compiled a helpful list of drives in our area:
- Assemblyman Jim Brennan’s office (1414 Cortelyou Road) is a drop-off site for the Toys for Tots collection drive. You can drop them off any time the office is open (Monday, Thursday and Friday from 9:30am-5pm), and you can also bring them to a holiday party at the assemblyman’s office next Tuesday, December 16 (the last possible day for donation drop-offs).
- Councilman Jumaane Williams is holding both a canned food and toy drive, both of which you can donate to through December 22. Cans will be donated to local food pantries and charitable organizations, and toys will be given to neighborhood children in need. Please deliver cans of food and/or new and unwrapped toys to Williams’ office at 4517 Avenue D.
- The Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce’s cash drive for food pantries and soup kitchens will run through December 19. All of the donations will be given to kitchens and pantries in the borough. You can donate online here or call the Chamber of Commerce at (718) 875-1000.
- Amalgamated Bank (1201 Avenue J) is collecting new and unwrapped toys, books and clothing for children ages 1 year old to 13 years old through Monday, December 15. At the completion of the toy drive, the bank will distribute toys to a local charity.
Plus, don’t forget that you can bring coats to the winter coat drive at PS 139 (330 Rugby Road) this Sunday, December 14 from 9am-3pm, and you can donate to New York Cares Coat Drive at a number of area locations through December 31.
