Ditmas Park’s Eric Pesso Nominated for Brooklyn Museum Exhibit
Neighbor and sculptor Eric Pesso has been named one of the top 10 artists for GO from the Brookln Museum! You may known Eric as the man who takes a couple of cut down neighborhood trees every year and makes them into art, awesome examples of which you can see in the pictures above and below taken during the GO open studios earlier this month.
“Simply put, my goal is to create beautiful objects,” Eric said to the Brooklyn Working Artist Coalition. “There is no social or political content to the work, no battle cry or attempt to plumb the depths of the human condition. There is just an attempt to actualize abstract ideas as elegantly as I can, combined with a painstaking adherence to the craft of wood carving.”
Eric’s work will be highlighted online by the museum next month. In November, we find out which artist will be featured in the museum in an exhibit opening in December.
