Ditmas Park Weekend Events


This weekend, you can stop by Haitian Flag Day & Heritage Month events or Prospect Park’s Fleece Festival, Bike the Branches and play at Butterflies, Bulbs & Bookmarks, and more–just keep away from Brooklyn Half Marathon road closures.

Saturday, May 17

• The too cool Touch-A-Truck fundraiser is back at PS 295, 12-5pm.
• Visit the Pop-Up Audubon at the Binnen Bridge, Saturdays and Sundays from 12-5pm…
• … or take a tour of the Lefferts Historic House, every half hour Saturdays and Sundays from 12:30-4:30pm until June 29.
• Stop by an open house at the new Cynthia King Dance Studio (21 Snyder Avenue between Flatbush and Bedford Avenues), 2-5pm.
Bar Chord’s First Anniversary Music Feast-ival is on featuring a number of local artists (and a good amount of BBQ), 2-10pm.
• It’s Read Aloud Day at the Lefferts Historic House, 1-4pm.
History in Your Hands: Fleece Fun is at the Lefferts Historic House, 2-4pm Saturdays and Sundays.
Misery Loves Company is at 773 Lounge, 9pm.

Sunday, May 18

• Pick up goodies, compost food scraps, and recycle textiles at the Cortelyou Greenmarket (see link for exact recycling/composting hours), 8am-3pm.
• There’s a clothing swap and drive in the PS 139 cafeteria, 9am-2pm.
• Play and sing at Toddler Time with Mary Jo, Lark, 10am.
•  Shred Fest is at Prospect Park’s 3rd Street entrance, 10am-4pm.
• There’s a BBQ for prospective Temple Beth Emeth members at 225 Argyle Road, 3-6pm.
• This month’s Lit at Lark features Dan Wilbur, Selena Coppock, Geoff Wolinetz, Babe Parker, and Matthew Love–at Lark, of course–5pm.
• There’s an Old Time Jam at Bar Chord, 3-6pm.
• Join the Ditmas Park Sitting Group to meditate at Third Root, 6:45pm.
Game Night is on at 773 Lounge, 7pm.
• The Cortelyou Jazz Jam is at Bar Chord, 9pm.
