Ditmas Park Weekend Events

Haven’t quite hammered out your weekend schedule? Here are some ideas: get your pet blessed, plant some bulbs, dance, or choose from nearly 20 kinds of beer (or drink 20 beers, then dance) at Oktoberfest. Whatever you do, have a great one and we’ll see you on Monday.

Saturday, October 5

Plant and mulch with neighbors starting at the Glenwood dead end (between the subway tracks and Rugby Road), 10am.
Ready, Set, Kindergarten is at the Cortelyou Library (sign up in advance), 11am.
Alex Levin and guests play jazz at Purple Yam, 12:30-2:30pm.
Join the Brooklyn Bird Club for a walk starting at the Prospect Park Audubon Center, 12-1pm.
•  Get tickets for Shine and the Moonbeams at BAMKids, BAMCafe (30 Lafayette Avenue between Saint Felix Street and Ashland Place), 2pm.
• Join a race around the barnyard at the Lefferts Historic House, 2-4pm Saturdays and Sundays.
•  Honey, Dear plays vintage jazz at Lark, 4pm.
• Turn junk to jewels with a class at Brooklyn Artery, 6:30pm.
NYCTrust plays their weekly party at Sycamore, 8pm.
Sean Kershaw & the New Jack Ramblers are at Bar Chord, 9pm.
Amy Coleman is at 773 Lounge, 10pm.

Sunday, October 6

• Take a bird walk starting at the Prospect Park Audubon Center, 8am.
• Meditate for free at at Jaya Yoga East, 8:30am.
• Play and sing at Toddler Time with Mary Jo, Lark, 10am.
Celebrate Oktoberfest at Hamilton’s (2826 Fort Hamilton Parkway between E 4th and E 5th Streets), starting at 10am.
• Make chicken tamales at Brooklyn ARTery, 11am.
• Eat some baked clams and thank Rob Williams of Seatuck Fish at the Cortelyou Greenmarket (Cortelyou Road between Argyle and Rugby Roads), 11:30am.
Get your pet blessed at  Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church (yard on Saint Pauls Court between Ocean Avenue and E 19th Street), 12:45pm.
Tammy Hall tells stories at the Lefferts Historic House, 2 and 3pm.
• The Cortelyou Jazz Jam is at Bar Chord, 9pm.
