Ditmas Park Gets A Neighborly Shout Out In Vogue

You may have noticed Vogue has taken a sudden interest in our borough lately, with their “Best of the Borough” guide, “Bonjour, Brooklyn” slideshow of mostly models showing why people would move to “New York’s Left Bank” (although it’s unclear whether the models actually live here or were just impersonating folks who do), and now their coverage of an actual neighbor, Au Revoir Simone‘s Heather D’Angelo, on why she loves Ditmas Park.

In addition to calling Milk & Honey an extension of her living room (lucky girl), Heather name checks Collyer’s Mansion, The Farm on Adderley, Sycamore, and The Castello Plan. And then, of course, there are the trees.

“They are old and epic,” she says, “and provide so much shade in the summertime. I also love the rows of beautiful houses. Each one has so much character. It’s the kind of neighborhood where children ride their bikes in the streets and old ladies drink iced tea on their porches all day.”

Up until now, the only other time the magazine dared to venture south of the park was to Kensington Stables (really, check out that sore thumb on their “Best of the Borough” map), which they praised for its “1930 barn,” so it’s nice to see an actual resident in the mix.

If you worked at Vogue, where would you suggest they go?
