Development Watch: Affordable Housing Coming To Clinton Hill, 500 Waverly, and More
The rapid change of Fort Greene and Clinton Hill is continuing apace, with major real estate developments sprouting seemingly everywhere.
A judge has dismissed a suit that would have impeded the construction of 280 Cadman Plaza West at site of the current the Brooklyn Heights Library, which means that two affordable housing developments in Clinton Hill are now likely to be built as a part of the deal, reports DNAinfo.
The two buildings, respectively located at 1043 Fulton Street (between Fulton Street and Putnam Avenue) and 907 Atlantic Avenue (between St. James Place and Grand Avenue), will total 114 affordable housing units, according to NY Yimby.
Per NY Yimby:
Both buildings will reach nine stories and 80 feet into the air. The larger project, at 907 Atlantic, will have 78 apartments divided across 54,076 square feet of residential space, for average units of 693 square feet.
The first through sixth floors will each hold nine units, and the seventh through ninth floors will have eight units each. There will be a fitness room, lounge, and laundry in the cellar.
500 Waverly Avenue, a condo in Clinton Hill, will have 48 units, has moved on to having its facade installed reports New York Yimby. The building, being developed by Orange Management, is expected to be completed this year.
The building will have apartments ranging from studios to four bedrooms, and will include underground parking equipped to house 33 cars, according to NY Yimby.
Apartments at the 53-story The Ashland (250 Ashland Place between Fulton Street and Lafayette Avenue) are ready to open to leasing, with apartments ranging from $2,600 for a studio up to $7,500 for a three bedroom.
As we reported last month, The Ashland will be home to its own gourmet food hall, run by the same folks as Gotham Market West.
300 Ashland (300 Ashland Place between Lafayette Avenue and Hanson Place) is also set to start leasing, with studios starting at $2,800 and ranging all the way up to $5,750 for two bedroom, two bathroom apartments.
300 Ashland will include 76 affordable units. There will be a discussion about those apartments at Brown Memorial Baptist Church tonight.
Both The Ashland and 300 Ashland are in the heart of the nascent Brooklyn Cultural District, which was recently targeted as the heart of the Culture Forward plan.
