The neighborhood was sad to lose Eagle Provisions in June, after owners John and Richard Zawisny sold the building for $7.5 million after 40 years in the neighborhood.

But a small piece of the old structure will live on in a new residential development — the developer plans to partially demolish and expand the the shop’s three existing tenements at 626-630 5th Avenue, according to YIMBY.

The finished building, designed by Tom Winter Architects, will be six stories and gain about 6,000 square feet of interior space. The ground floor will have about 2,000 square feet of retail and there will be 27 apartments averaging 725 square feet.

Three of the apartments will have large private terraces and the cellar will have 14 parking spots.
