Department Of Sanitation, You Tease

A week later, and the abandoned bikes that were tagged for removal by the Department of Sanitation on Union Street near 5th Avenue are still there.

As previously noted, Sanitation began a program to remove what they deem “derelict bicycles” in 2010, and in the first 18 months, only removed 40 across the city. When they slap on one of the neon stickers (seen in the middle of the rack above), they’re supposed to return within a week to remove the bike. Here’s hoping the two frames here — not to mention the dozens throughout the neighborhood — are removed soon.
