Demolition Revealed At 487 Myrtle Avenue

Paper has covered the window of 487 Myrtle Avenue (between Hall and Ryerson Streets) since former tenant Sandbox relocated a few blocks down to 417. As we passed by yesterday, though, some of the paper had fallen or been removed–exposing the bones of the space and work taking place inside.

Permits were filed earlier this summer to remove all finishes, plumbing fixtures, non-bearing partitions, and other features of the storefront in its former incarnation. The space has been taken down to the beams across the ceiling and studs towards the rear of the building, leaving mostly a shell (and some wires we’re hoping aren’t live), and revealing some of the gorgeous pressed tin we know was once a regular feature of stores on the avenue.

The space is between Corkscrew Wines (489 Myrtle) and WAZA Sushi & Ramen (485 Myrtle), and will sit adjacent to the forthcoming Myrtle Avenue Plaza. What would you like to see move in?
