Dean And Pacific Streets Prepare For Many Street Closures This Week
Residents and neighbors near Barclays Center are bracing themselves for multiple closures this week, beginning Tuesday, October 20 – Friday, October 23. The closures are due to a one-two-three punch by two large scale events at Barclays, as well as work being performed by Con Ed.
According to a Barclays Center press release, Dean Street between Flatbush and 5th Avenues will be closed on Tuesday, October 20 due to the Tidal X event at Barclays. Expect a heightened police presence, satellite trucks, and the red carpet being rolled out for arriving stars.
Fewer inconveniences will take place in the area on Thursday, October 22 for the Powerhouse 2015 event at Barclays. However, residents should be alerted to increased traffic for more arriving stars.
NYPD’s 78th Precinct announced via Twitter that on Thursday, October 22 – Friday, October 23, there will be restricted parking on Pacific Street between Carlton and 6th Avenues due to Con Ed work being performed at the 535 Carlton Avenue project site.
Here’s a breakdown of it all for you:
Tuesday, October 22, 5pm-12am (approximately)
• All residents will have unrestricted access to their homes and businesses.
• Starting at 5pm, Dean Street between Flatbush and 6th Avenues will be closed to thru traffic for vehicles.
• Emergency vehicle traffic lanes will be preserved at all times.
• Starting at 5pm, southbound traffic on 6th Avenue between Atlantic Avenue and Bergen Street will be modified for event-related traffic to make a right turn onto Dean Street.
• It is recommended for cars to use Vanderbilt Avenue during traffic closures.
• A satellite truck will be parked near the Sugar Factory plaza at 6th Avenue and Pacific Street.
• There will be a red carpet run on Dean Street between 6:30-8:00pm which will not be open to the general public.
• Several dozen vehicles on Dean Street will participate in arrivals/drop-offs of high-level talent and staff.
Wednesday, October 21, 10am-8pm (approximately)
• Production load out from Barclays will take place. Traffic delays are possible, but there will be no street closures.
Thursday, October 22, 7am-12am (approximately)
• All residents will have unrestricted access to their homes and businesses on Dean Street.
• Restricted parking on Pacific Street between Carlton and 6th Avenues due to Con Ed work being performed at the 535 Carlton Avenue project site. Parking on the south side of Pacific Street is not permitted between 7am-6pm.
• Several dozen vehicles on Dean Street will participate in arrivals/drop-offs of high-level talent and staff between 5pm-12am.
Friday, October 23, 7am-6pm (approximately)
• Restricted parking on Pacific Street between Carlton and 6th Avenues due to Con Ed work being performed at the 535 Carlton Avenue project site. Parking on the south side of Pacific Street is not permitted between 7am-6pm.
