The Day: Rainy Weather, Church Condos and Open Shopping Days
Good morning, Fort Greene and Clinton Hill.
Muggy weather is bearing down on us as we start the day. With showers predicted and expected temperatures in the low-90s, according to the National Weather Service, we’re not anticipating much relief.
Here’s more local news to start your day:
- Churches across Brooklyn have found new life as condos, DNAinfo reported. More than 20 have been renovated for residential use in the last two decades, including four in the nabe. While some people are happy to move into the historic sanctuaries, others say the conversions put some of the city’s most significant buildings at risk. What do you think, locals?
- The Greene Hill Food Co-op, which recently expanded its store hours to include Sundays, will open it’s doors to entice non-members this Saturday. The “Open Shopping” day is part of the organization’s community outreach, which attempts to introduce locals to the co-op’s locally-sourced groceries, prices and how to join. Head to 18 Putnam Avenue between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. to see what the store has to offer.
