The Day: The New Year is Here
Good morning, Fort Greene and Clinton Hill.
We’re back from a couple of fun-filled New Year’s celebrations, but when we checked our Flickr photo pool to see shots of locals welcoming in 2014, there was a dearth. We know you’ve got some awesome photos, so don’t forget to submit your favorite ones and we can all share in your merriment.
Here’s more local news to start your new year:
- Although the Atlantic Yards Report hasn’t posted an in-depth recap of 2013 Atlantic Yards project happenings, it did put together this post of interesting quotes from Forest City Ratner’s Chairman Bruce Ratner. What would you rank as the top Atlantic Yards story of last year, locals?
- The Brooklyn Nets, one game out of last place in the NBA’s Atlantic Division with a record of 10 wins and 21 losses, might not be building the fan chatter that it wants to, former NBA coach Stan Van Gundy told to the New York Daily News. The only team currently playing at the Barclays Center is “bush league” the coach contended, pointing out an infamous drink spilling incident and uninspired play from the team.
- Finally, don’t forget to wrap yourselves up tight today, as we’re expecting to see the first significant snowfall of 2014. In addition to final snowfall tallies of 4 to 8 inches, 40 mph wind gusts could lead to drifting snow and whiteout conditions across New York City, according to the National Weather Service.
