Good morning, Fort Greene and Clinton Hill.

Although the day is expected to start out cool,  sunny skies should continue today, bringing us temperatures as high as 80, according to the National Weather Service. Don’t forget to snap some photos and share them on The Nabe’s Flickr group so all your neighbors can see.

Here’s more news to start your day:

  • It might have taken him more than three decades to realize his vision of building out a plot of land he bought in the ’80s, but John Catsimatidis is more than halfway there, the Brooklyn Paper reported. The paper showed a view of the second of four buildings to be built on the site, along Myrtle Avenue between Ashland and Fleet Places. Catsimatidis hopes to have construction on the second building, which includes 205 apartments and retail space on the ground floor, finished by 2015.
  • St. Joseph’s College Brooklyn senior Joe Mendez was one of four to score D3Baseball.com All-New York Region honors. Mendez was named to the All-New York Region First Team, while juniors Thomas McKenna and Chris Cutrone snagged second team selections and senior Mike Cundari won third team honors. Mendez, a first team selection a year ago, and Cundari also garnered 2014 ABCA/Rawlings All-New York Region Team awards – Mendez as a first team outfielder and Cundari as a third team first baseman.
  • We learned the story behind the Henry McCoun house at 275 Washington Avenue in this Building of the Day post on Brownstoner. The Clinton Hill home, an Italianate structure with Second Empire and Neo-Grec influences, was built in 1873. Although the building might look out of place when you see it nestled between a large apartment building and an empty lot, the double-wide brownstone has some impressive accessories, including a carriage house of the property.
