The Day: Grinchy Carols, College Courses and Holiday Parties

Good morning, Fort Greene and Clinton Hill.

How’s that food coma been treating you, locals? Finished the leftovers yet? At least you won’t have to fear the cold today. According to the National Weather Service, highs will reach 49 degrees today, although it will be a little cloudy and windy. In the meantime, here’s what you can look forward to this week in the Nabe:

  • Ready to warm up those pipes for caroling? Greenlight Bookstore will host a holiday story time and sing-a-long tomorrow afternoon, with songs from “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” and other holiday classics. There will be cookies, cider and giveaways to inspire little listeners to spread goodwill as Christmas gets closer. The singing starts at 4 p.m. at 686 Fulton Street.   • Are you an adult learner looking to get college classes under your belt? St. Joseph’s College will host an information session for adults interested in taking college courses at the Brooklyn Campus at 245 Clinton Avenue tomorrow. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet with admissions counselors and learn more about classes and majors, as well as financial aid.   • The Fort Greene Association has invited locals to its annual holiday party this Friday. Come by to share in the cheer with neighbors and partake in food and beverages provided by local restaurants and shops, including Belli Osteria, Berlyn, Greene Grape Provisions, Luz, Madiba, Mullanes, Olea, Piece of Velvet, Prospect, Putnam’s Pub, The Smoke Joint, and No. 7. And that’s just to start – expect more local businesses to join in the fun. Tickets are $10 and include five raffle tickets along with complimentary food and drinks. Kids are welcome, so bring the whole family. The party will be held at Irondale Theater at 85 South Oxford Street.
