The Day: Fort Greene Cafe Shut Down, NYCHA Town Hall Meeting and Fort Greene Goods
Good morning, Fort Greene and Clinton Hill.
We hope you enjoyed the warmer weather this weekend. It looks like we won’t be getting any more surprise snow this week, as the temperatures will stay in the 60s, according to the National Weather Service. If you’re out, remember to take some pictures and upload them to The Nabe’s Flickr pool. Here’s some local news to start your week:
- The New York City Department of Health closed
last week for operating without a permit, reported Brownstoner. The cafe, located at
80 DeKalb Avenue, opened in 2012 and served sandwiches, crepes and coffee.
- City Council Woman Laurie Cumbo will hold a town hall meeting this evening at 7 p.m. at the Ingersoll Community Center at 177 Myrtle Avenue. Residents from the five New York City Housing Authority Developments in the 35th District – the Ingersoll Houses, the Walt Whitman Houses, Lafayette Garden, the Farragut Houses and the Atlantic Terminal Houses – are invited to attend.
- Want to wear your Fort Greene pride? Anthropologie is carrying a Fort Greene t-shirt for $78 from Los Angeles-based designer Jasmine Ko. Guys can check out this Fort Greene line of beard and face grooming products, from mustache wax to beard pomade, from Brooklyn Grooming. What do you think about the monetization of our neighborhood?
