The Day: Financial Advice and Trash Fashion at the Brooklyn Nay Yard

Good morning, Fort Greene and Clinton Hill.

After  thunderstorms in the nabe last night, we’re looking at cloudy skies to start the day with temperatures in the mid-60s, according to the National Weather Service. Don’t forget to show us your view of the rainy weather by sharing your photos in The Nabe’s Flickr group.

Here’s some more local news to get you started today:

  • The Pratt Area Community Council will hold a small business workshop tonight that focuses on building and obtaining the credit you need. Topics include raising your credit rating, and establishing personal and business credit. You’ll also have the chance to get free one-on-one counseling with financing, leasing, legal issues and more. To take part in the meeting RSVP by calling (347) 823-5700, extension 125, or emailing dale_charles@prattarea.org.
  • With the late start to the workweek, we’re at the mid-point of the week. If you’re planning your  weekend already, the Trashion Fashion Show  at the Brooklyn Grange’s rooftop garden in the Navy Yard will feature 25 designs by both designers and students as well as recycled art installations, live music, vegan food and kombucha in compostable cups. Head to 63 Flushing Avenue between 6 and 9 p.m. to be a part of the occasion.
