The Day: A Brooklyn Bears Baseball Award and Help with Passover Meal
Good morning, Fort Greene and Clinton Hill.
Get out and enjoy the sunshine while you can, locals, because rain is expected to move into the area this weekend, according to the National Weather Service. Thankfully the windy weather should subside until the rain is predicted to move in tomorrow morning. Don’t forget to show us how you’re enjoying the sun by snapping a photo and sharing it on The Nabe’s Flickr group.
Here’s more news to get your started:
- Congratulations to St. Joseph’s College Brooklyn junior Chris Cutrone for winning Association of Division III Independents Baseball Player of the Week honors for the third time in his career. The award comes on the heels of Cutrone’s complete game shutout performance in a victory over the State University of New York Institute of Technology last week. In addition to scattering seven hits and three strikeouts for the win, he gave the Bears the first 1-0 shutout in the team’s seven-year history.
- Passover is just around the corner and Peck’s Specialty Foods is prepared to help you out by cooking your Seder dinner. Give them three days notice and they’ll make the whole spread for $40 a person, including everything from gefilte fish to charoset, for up to 20 guests. For more information on the food offerings head to the store, located at 455A Myrtle Avenue, call (347) 689-4969 or email peckshomemade@gmail.com.
- Out of the loop when it comes to current Middle East news? You can explore the struggles of everyday citizens Monday night at a free Brooklyn For Peace forum “What’s at Stake in the Middle East?” The evening begins with short film detailing the life of children refugees in Syria, followed by a panel discussion. The film begins at 6:30 p.m., followed by the discussion at 7 p.m. For more information on the forum, happening at the Lafayette Avenue Presbyterian Church at 85 South Oxford Street, email fortgreenepeace@gmail.com.
