The Day: A #BringBackOurGirls Rally, G Line Restaurants and a New Store for Flea Market Vendor
Good morning, Fort Greene and Clinton Hill.
We hope you enjoyed the balmy weather this weekend in the neighborhood, because it has continued into today. There’s a slight chance of showers today after 2 p.m., according to the National Weather Service, so take an umbrella if you’re planning to be out in the afternoon.
Here’s some more local news to start your week:
- New York City Council Member Laurie Cumbo will hold a rally in support of the 200 kidnapped Nigerian schoolgirls today at 11 a.m. at City Hall. If you plan on heading to the Manhattan rally, you can wear something red to support #BringBackOurGirls.
- Custom jeweler and Brooklyn Flea regular Elma Blint just opened a storefront in Fort Greene in the rear space at 739 Fulton Street, reported DNAinfo. Blint, one of the first vendors when the market opened in 2008, designs and makes gold and silver jewelry using wax molds. The new space enables her to work with customers to design their own bespoke jewelry.
- The New York Daily News featured Pilar Cuban Eatery, Clementine Bakery and Clinton Hill Pickles in its weekly column “Eating Along the G Line.” What restaurants do you recommend, locals?
