The stretch of 4th Avenue in Gowanus where A&E Supply Co. recently opened isn’t exactly a gourmand’s paradise, so neighbors will be thrilled to now have a coffee shop, cheesemonger, whole animal butcher, bar and restaurant all conveniently situated under one roof.

Located at 548 4th Avenue (at 15th Street), A&E Supply Co. showcases Brooklyn-made products including Brooklyn Roasting Company coffee, Dough doughnuts, Runner and Stone bread, and beers from Braven Brewing, Coney Island Brewing, KCBC and Other Half Brewing. The modern, industrial space includes seating for 50, a bar, dining counter, and a long communal table.

Co-owners and best friends, Chef Adam Harvey and General Manager Ennio Di Nino, met while working at Danny Meyer’s North End Grill. Chef Harvey has also worked in the kitchens of Union Square Café, ABC Kitchen, and appeared on Top Chef Boston.

The multi-use neighborhood food space serves coffee and pastries every morning, lunch in the afternoon, and sells grass fed beef, pasture-raised lamb and pork, free range chickens, homemade deli meat, charcuterie and sausages, farmstead cheeses, condiments, sauces and snacks from its butcher and cheese counter throughout the day.

The bar is open in the evenings and pours a selection of New York State beers, wine, and craft cocktails and offers small plates highlighting ingredients from the butcher counter including charcuterie, cheese, sandwiches, and vegetable dishes. For burger lovers, A&E serves up patties made with grass fed, grass finished Hardwick beef freshly ground each day for $6.50—a bargain for an artisanal hamburger!

A full dinner menu is in the works and will roll out in the coming weeks.
