D Ranked Most Dependable Train In New York City

Which train is faster: the D or the N? Well, today we can finally settle the debate.

The D train is hands-down the most reliable subway line in New York City, according to wait-time data crunched by the New York Post.

The D train, which runs from Norwood in The Bronx all the way to Coney Island in Brooklyn, is the most reliable subway line on weekdays — with trains punctual 82 percent of the time, according to wait-time data analyzed by The Post.

It was nearly tied with the J and Z trains, which run through some of Brooklyn’s hippest neighborhoods — Williamsburg and Bushwick. Those met the MTA’s wait standards 81.7 percent of the time.

To be considered on time, MTA standards allow a 2.5 minute wait for every 10 minute gap between trains – or 25 percent lateness.

Also making the list was our beloved and decrepit N line, which met MTA wait-time standards 81.5 percent of the time. Not bad, for a subway line that seems to be crumbling at the seams.

The worst weekend train? Unsurprising, the F – which met the standards only 76.9 percent of the time.

In general, the letter trains performed better than the number trains, and the N showed the most improvement since last year.
