Crown Heights Man Killed in Saturday Shooting

CROWN HEIGHTS – During a weekend beset with violence, a man was shot and killed in Crown Heights on Saturday.

On Saturday, December 16, at 1:40 am, police responded to a 911 call of an assault occurring in the area of St. Johns Place and Schenectady Avenue, just north of Eastern Parkway.

Upon arrival at the scene, officers found 32-year old John Barnes unconscious and unresponsive, with a gunshot wound to the head, said police. EMS transported the man, who lived just down the block, to Kings County Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

An investigation into Barnes’ death is ongoing and there are no arrests at this time.
