Crime Blotter: Thief Punches CVS Security Guard In Face For Laundry Detergent
Here’s our roundup of some of the crime reports that happened in and around Bensonhurst in the last week, courtesy of the NYPD’s 62nd Precinct.
Robberies were big this week. One firefighter lost his badge to a pickpocket, a feisty women fended off a purse-snatcher, and a burglar went to great lengths to get his laundry done.
- A burglar punched a CVS security guard (on 2151 86th Street) in the face and threatened him with a piece of metal on December 6, according to police, before making off with a container of laundry detergent.
- A woman was walking on Bay Parkway on her way to work on December 8, when cops say she was surprised by a burglar trying to grab her purse from behind. The feisty lady turned quickly, grabbing her purse to her body, and the man fled.
- Two men pounced on a man walking home while talking on his cellphone at a Getty gas station on 86th Street on December 9, police report, leaving his face with a nasty bruise. The thugs pried the man’s cellphone from his hand and fled by car – but not before the victim took down their license plate number.
- A local firefighter was coming home from a night on the town on December 15, when cops say he noticed he was missing $102, a credit card, his badge, and FDNY ID card.
