Couldn’t Catch Your Regular C Train This Morning? Yeah, That Was Because Of A Cat

Were you waiting patiently at the Franklin, Classon, or Lafayette Avenue stop this morning, watching C trains go by on the express track? Did you get in late to work or class because of it? You could always ask the MTA to provide you with a delay verification, or you could forgo that whole process and just tell your employer or instructor the truth–it was the cat’s fault.

An MTA spokesperson told Gothamist this morning that C trains were redirected to the express track from Utica to Hoyt-Schermerhorn “for about 45 minutes” around 7am while a cat was removed from the subway tracks near Nostrand Avenue. Gothamist’s original tipster Phil Bouska noted his A train was also stalled for roughly 20 minutes as its conductor gave play-by-plays like “[B]ecause the cat is moving very slow, the A train is moving very slow.”

“The passengers went from amused to frustrated over the course of about 20 min,” Bouska said.

So, how was your commute this morning? Were you held up by the curious kitty, or did your train run according to plan?
