Considering Moving To Sheepshead Bay? (Sponsored)

About Sheepshead Bay

It only takes one visit to Sheepshead to fall in love with this place. Time seems to move at its own pace here. There is a resort-like ambiance to living on the bay, yet you are close enough to the rest of Brooklyn to take advantage of all the amenities this borough has to offer. FlatRate Moving has put together this quick  guide.

Why Move to Sheepshead Bay?

A real estate boom occurred here near the end of the 20th century. With this growth also came a myriad of waterfront seafood restaurants, Eastern European night clubs, and high concentrations of immigrants.

The housing market is diverse, so you can find everything from a cozy studio apartment with water views to a sprawling multi-bedroom home.

The New York City subway provides services to Sheepshead by the Q and B lines, and Emmons Avenue is filled with piers. You can jump on a yacht to do a little dancing in the evening or spend the day with other locals on a fishing charter.

Sheepshead Bay Moving Tips

The closer you are to the water the more important it becomes to be aware of special events in the area when scheduling your move. For example, if you are steps away from a pier known for its insanely busy Saturday fishing charters, scheduling a move on Saturday is probably not the best idea.  If you are close to the train station, consider the foot traffic on the streets at 7 am as residents are hurrying into Manhattan for work.

A service elevator may need to be reserved, if you are in a mid-to high-rise building. When you are settled, the best thing to do is explore the area on foot like the locals to. Stop by Roll-N-Roaster for sweet potato fries, and grab a coffee and homemade crepe from Arbuz on your first official morning as a Sheepshead resident.
