Condo Tower To Replace Macy’s ‘Love Letter to Brooklyn’ Garage
DOWNTOWN BROOKLYN – The five-story garage that once served as a canvas for artist Stephen Powers‘ Love Letter to Brooklyn mural has been demolished—in its place, a giant hole in the ground.
The gaping hole won’t be around for long as development firm Tischman Speyer is planning a 51-story, 476-unit condo tower for the site, Brownstoner reports. Located at 11 Hoyt Street at the corner of Livingston Street, the structure was formerly the parking garage for the adjacent Macy’s, which is currently being redeveloped as part of a $279 million project that includes The Wheeler, a ten-story creative campus that will rise above the department store as well as a neighboring building.
With 100,000 square feet of retail space on the lower floors, the new high-rise will offer residents some posh amenities including a second-floor swimming pool, sauna, squash court, pet care, and parking Curbed says.
