Compost For Brooklyn Re-Opens To Collect Food Scraps Starting This Weekend

Compost for Brooklyn is back! The garden on the corner of Newkirk Avenue and East 8th Street will be open again to collect food scraps for composting for the summer, and their first open hours are on Saturday, June 8 from 11am-1pm.

Neighbors are welcome to bring food scraps that can be composted. Never tried? It’s pretty easy to save acceptable fruit and vegetable scarps, egg shells, coffee grounds, shredded paper, and more. Check out C4B’s handy list to learn what you can and can’t bring.
