Clover Barber Shop Sign Now Gone From 7th Avenue

All remnants of the Clover Barber Shop at 389 7th Avenue, on the corner of 12th Street, are now gone, as a new tenant continues preparations to move in.

The shop was run by Ercole Riccardelli, who closed the space in 2008 and then passed away in 2013. Jeremiah’s Vanishing New York did a nice piece on him in back in 2007, noting that, at age 84 at the time, “his lines are straight and his hand is steady on the razor blade.”

The letters in the sign over the shop came down and were sold for $25 a pop, according to Vanishing NY.

The new tenants for the space are our neighbors at Big Nose Full Body. Owner Aaron Hans gave us a brief update, saying that they’re getting set to start renovating the space, hopefully begging next month.

“So probably not moving until the new year,” he says.

We’re looking forward to seeing something in this space that’s been vacant for so long, but it’s always a bit sad to see a piece of the past go, and we’ll miss that sign.
