With days left to the announcement of which five libraries won the second annual NYC Neighborhood Library Awards — and the $20,000 that comes with the honor — our very own finalist, the Clinton Hill Library, decided to celebrate their nomination and the people who made it possible, with a Community Planting Day.

The day was a repeat of a similar event last year, during which branch manager Tracey Mantrone and the Friends of Clinton Hill Library teamed up with the Brooklyn Eagles, BPL’s young donors club, for a day of planting and painting at the branch.

This year, residents planted flowers together and made bright pinwheels to beautify the front of the library at 380 Washington Avenue.
